Changing early childhood education providers

To apply for a transfer to another daycare, fill in the electronic early childhood education application in Hakuhelmi. Transfer applications are decided according to the same criteria as new applicants. If a vacancy is available, the child is transferred to the desired daycare or other early childhood education provider at the start of the new daycare and preschool year in August.

If your family moves to another municipality, the right to an early childhood education placement in the previous municipality ends by the end of the month of the move at the latest. If you want your child to continue in the previous early childhood education placement despite moving to another municipality, contact early childhood education services.

Cancelling an early childhood education placement

You can cancel your early childhood education placement with the Edlevo mobile app. We recommend making the cancellation well in advance before your child’s need for the early childhood education placement ends. Billing of the early childhood education fee ends on the date when the cancellation was made at the earliest.

Temporary hold on an early childhood education placement

You can put your early childhood education placement on temporary hold for a minimum of four months. The early childhood education fee is not charged while the placement is on hold. A temporary hold must always be agreed with the daycare centre’s director in writing.

During the temporary hold, the family has the right to use early childhood education services occasionally for less than four hours a day no more than 1–2 days a month. This temporary access to daycare is intended to cover urgent needs such as doctor’s appointments. If you need to bring your child to daycare temporarily while your placement is on hold, you should contact the daycare centre’s director the day before at the latest. The temporary stay may be at the child’s own daycare centre, but it can also be arranged at another location if necessary.

After the temporary hold ends, we will try to ensure that your child gets in the same daycare centre they were in previously.
